Kupastuntas.co, Lampung English - The Education and Culture Office of Lampung Province noted that currently Lampung still lacks around 7,000 teachers with high school level State Civil Apparatus status. The shortage of teachers is spread across 363 schools.
"Currently, Lampung Province has a shortage of around 7,000 high school teachers. The shortage of teachers is spread across 363 schools throughout Lampung," said the Head of the Development and Personnel Division of the Lampung Provincial Education Office, Linda Fanheti, Monday 3 April 2023.
Linda said that the number of high school level teachers in Lampung with non-state civil servant status was 14,919 people spread across public and private schools.
Meanwhile, high school level teachers with the status of Civil Servants are 6,567 people, plus 335 teachers with the status of Government Employees with Work Agreements.
Linda revealed, the need for teachers continues to grow because there are a number of Civil Service teachers who retire each year. Unfortunately, this retired Civil Servant teacher was not matched by the addition of Civil Servant and Government Employee teachers with a new work agreement.
He explained, in 2021, the central government will open the selection of Government Employees with Work Agreements for secondary and basic education levels in an effort to meet the need for these teachers.
"The one who opened it was the central government, we only placed the exam, and in the data there were 1,429 people who passed the passing grade. Of these, 422 have just entered to become Government Employees with Work Agreements. This is in accordance with the regional budget capabilities," he explained.
Furthermore, as many as 1,007 Government Employee teachers with work agreements who have passed the passing grade will be submitted in 2023, and are expected to be appointed this year.
He explained, the number of State Civil Apparatus teachers who will retire in 2023 will be 346 people, and in 2024 there will be 336 people.
"The Lampung Education Office only records needs, we are waiting for the central policy on how and in what way to meet the needs of teachers in Lampung," he said.
According to him, the need for additional Civil Service teachers in Lampung is expected to be a consideration for the central government to be able to recruit State Civil Apparatus teachers in the future, especially in Lampung.
The Lampung Education Office has submitted data on the teacher shortage to the central government so that a solution can be found so that learning in Lampung is more effective and maximal.
"Nowadays, most teachers are concurrent, their knowledge is not linear. So if later there are no such thing as honorary teachers, then if the central government doesn't help, it will be difficult," he said.
He explained that apart from Lampung, other areas experienced a shortage of State Civil Apparatus teachers, such as Jakarta with 14,000 teachers, Bogor City with 16,000 teachers, Bengkulu Province with 1,000, and Jambi Province with 5,000 teachers.
Previously, the West Lampung Regency Education Office also noted that there was still a shortage of 634 Civil Servant and Government Employee teachers with work agreements.
The Head of the Lambar Education Office, Bulki Basri through the Head of the Manpower Sector, Mashuri said, currently there are as many as 2,293 Civil Servant and Government Employee teachers with work agreements on duty in all schools in Lambar.
Mashuri revealed, the number is still not ideal. Because, until now there is still a shortage of educators in a number of subjects both at the elementary to junior high school levels.
His party has also proposed adding educators to the acceptance of Candidates for State Civil Servants and Government Employees with Work Agreements in 2023.
"For the Kindergarten level we are not lacking. For the Elementary School level there are currently as many as 1563 teachers, but we still lack as many as 433 teachers. In detail, there are 54 class teachers, 55 PAI subject teachers, 71 PJOK teachers, Mulok 83 people and 170 guards," said Mashuri, Thursday (30/3/2023).
Meanwhile, there are currently 658 junior high school teachers, but there is still a shortage of 201 teachers. In detail, there were 19 PAI subject teachers, 2 Mathematics teachers, 10 PJOK teachers, 12 PPKN teachers, 31 Mulok teachers, 69 ICT teachers and 58 BK teachers.
His party has proposed adding teachers with the status of Candidates for State Civil Apparatus and Government Employees with Work Agreements for acceptance in 2023. However, his party cannot confirm whether this proposal can be fully realized or not.
"Our hope is that what has been proposed can all be realized to meet the needs of teachers in Lambar. So that the teaching and learning process can be maximized to produce the next generation of nations who have superior competence," he concluded. (*)
