Kupastuntas.co, Bandar Lampung - The Lampung Provincial Manpower Office appealed to the public not to be easily tempted by excessive lures to work abroad as Indonesian Migrant Workers, in order to prevent the Crime of Trafficking in Persons for migrant workers from Lampung.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Lampung Provincial Manpower Office, Agus Nompitu in response to the rampant crime of trafficking in persons as released by the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security, Mahfud MD after attending an internal cabinet meeting with President Joko Widodo discussing the crime of trafficking in persons in state palace on Tuesday, 30 May 2023 yesterday.

This is because, said Agus, some time ago there were 11 Indonesian Migrant Workers from Lampung who became victims of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons in Turkey because they departed via the Unprocedural route. However, currently the 11 Indonesian Migrant Workers who are victims have been returned to their respective regions, but Agus did not disclose from which areas the victims of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons came from.

"If I'm not mistaken it happened in 2022 and I forgot, but what is certain is that we urge the public not to be easily tempted by illegal agents who always give excessive lures, so that people must be vigilant and check again whether the company is legal or not and that can be checked at the Lampung Manpower Office," said Agus, when questioned. In addition, there were five Indonesian Migrant Workers who became victims of the crime of trafficking in persons who departed non-procedurally, namely RW (55), AW (45), PN (44), EWL (22), residents of East Lampung Regency and PH ( 58) resident of Bandar Lampung City.

Every year, said Agus, the number of Indonesian Migrant Workers from Lampung who go abroad tends to vary. However, he said that on average every year there are as many as 2,000 Indonesian Migrant Workers who depart.

"Overall, all of them are still at 21,000, the number comes from various regions, such as from East Lampung, South Lampung, Pringsewu, Tanggamus and Pesawaran. As for other districts, there are but not too many like some of these areas," he said.

For this year, the number of Indonesian Migrant Workers who have departed is 250 people, of which 100 Indonesian Migrant Workers have previously departed, while 150 others will be departed today. All Indonesian Migrant Workers who are dispatched will work in the industrial sector and his party will ensure the protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.

"Regarding efforts to protect the number of work accidents for Indonesian Migrant Workers, we will follow the labor regulations in the destination country. But we also continue to monitor with Consul officials in the country such as ambassadors and provide any protection including the safety aspect of our accidents as well. protect Indonesian Migrant Workers," he added

In addition, his party will ensure that aspects of fulfilling their immigration documents must be ensured legally and also administratively fulfilled. His party will also try to ensure that aspects of protection for migrant workers cooperate with the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency, including the POS office, including employment social security, to be provided to Indonesian Migrant Workers.
